All England Lawn Tennis Club
The All England Lawn Tennis Club is currently developing a training and community facility in Raynes Park. A small area of the site was developed in 2016 to cater for the relocation of the Wimbledon Junior Tennis Initiative. The plans continue this development of the site with the provision of a new club house, grass and hard courts, sports (football) pitches and associated parking. The site is partly within flood zone 2, so SuDS were required to be fully integrated within the masterplan to fulfil both the Local authority and GLA’s requirements.
A detailed planning application was approved summer 2018, with its detailed design and construction now under way.
IYLD were part of a multi-disciplinary team developing the site masterplan through work stages 1-3
Located on a site within a sensitive residential area with a large number of properties having visually open boundaries to the site, community consultation played a key part in addressing local resident’s concerns
Sitting on a heavy clay soil, the existing site was prone to waterlogging and occasional overland flows and so a fully integrated SuDS scheme was developed to attenuate the volume of water and provide storage for watering the courts
The Wimbledon identity and brand was required within the design
