Moto are currently rolling out a strategic expansion of their motorway service area portfolio. Illman Young were appointed as the scheme’s landscape architects for the planned expansion, which currently comprises five new large and complex greenfield sites.
Taking the lead from the concept designs and master planning stages of each scheme, planning and environmental restrictions had to be dealt with sensitively while maintaining the functionality required for the client and visitors to create an exceptional user experience.
Detailed and outline planning applications have been submitted for the schemes, and throughout the process we have been working closely with the local authorities and external agencies to develop and refine the schemes. Due to the location of the sites, a fully integrated SuDS scheme have been designed to capture, treat and attenuate all the surface water on site, whilst creating attractive landscape features.
On the sites where the planning process has been completed we are now developing the detail design to create robust, high quality and durable schemes that will successfully fulfil the client’s brief.
