The site at Chantry Quarry was a derelict chalk quarry, close to the centre of Guildford, but was more recently designated as a Development Site within the Local Plan. Illman Young worked closely with the design team to gain planning approval for this exclusive development, where previous applications had failed.
  • Illman Young engaged to carry out LVIA for site, and evolve a series of development constraints to minimise impact from surrounding key viewpoints
  • Developing architectural scheme tested against criteria to ensure natural composure of the buildings within the woodland setting
  • Replanting strategy developed aimed at promoting biodiversity and minimising impact of development
  • Following detailed planning application, developed full working drawings for external areas to include roof terraces, raised boardwalks to quarry face and high quality paving to external circulation areas.
